PostCandidates Night Posted: 2013/03/06 4:15pm  Reply with quote

I heard a rumor that Candidates night is this Saturday at 6:30 at CHS. Can anyone confirm this?

There is a sign at the Business Park across from Romano's that is advertising that date / time / location. That's how I found out about it. Shocked

For those unable to attend, the Candidates Forum will be broadcast live on Comcast channel 21.

The recording will be added to the playback schedule and also posted for on-demand viewing at http://lctv.pegcentral.com

Wow, what a campaign add Jason Guerrette ran in the HLN.

Quote:
NOT Hudson, Merrimack, Londonderry.

If I lived in any of the above mentioned Towns, I would be offended. Each of the above Towns are unique and the Town of Litchfield depends on both Hudson and Londonderry for Fire Department and Ambulance support.

Not sure why Merrimack is even in the conversation.

Just another negative attack to bolster Jason's position.

Couldn't there have been a better way to express his platform without calling out other Towns.

I have to agree with Raul though;

I was the most inked coverage since,,,,,well I cant remember when.

The pope doesn't get that many hits in the Vatican Times Weekly.

Shocked

I deleted my post because it really didn't move the conversation along. If it bothers you, I can repost.

All I heard tonight is the Town has needs and wants and we are spending a lot of our money on the wants. Nobody would say what the wants were or even better what they would cut. All they said is just vote for me because, well just vote for me.

Heard the usual platitudes.

The candidates not holding office say the current BOS, SB and BC are taxing us to death. The candidates currently in office say they have cut spending to the bone.

Without specifics, it is hard to say who is telling the truth.

Voters are going into this one blind.

I do not subscribe to the adage;

" better the devil you know, than the devil you do not "

Re-elect no one !

There are few enough seats on each board up for re-election.

That in itself ensure's that change can not happen inside a 10 year cycle.

3 year seat / 5 member board / majority = 3 votes / + the following 1 years resolution.

Now, just add more seats to the math !

Not sure I follow you Keith

The BOS each have a 3 year term - so there can be a complete turnover of members every 3 years. We could actually have 3 compete turnovers in 10 years.

I did the math (and checked my answer...)

How many seats are up for ( rental ) at any one time ?

2 seats / election @ 3 year term each

5 members

What about the other political positions.

If each year we are granted the opportunity to vote in 2 more seats, then you are correct that it would not take 10 tears. ( purposeful pun )

That would mean that there could be a change in only 3 years. Two for the election process + 1 to implement change.

But I still stand on the reality that the same folks get reelected.

Once again, Please look at the following link.

http://archive.org/search.php?query=Annual%20report%20of%20the%20Town%20of%20Litchfield%2C%20New%20Hampshire

The same players for an extended period of time. They jump from one board to the next, but the math is the same.

It seems to take 10 years for real change.

Perhaps it is because of voter apathy or ignorance, or better yet maybe, it is because I can see how these things actually happen.
