I sure do wish she could clear that up before Tuesday. |
Have you ever changed your mind Jason? I was against Pay to Play, but have slowly warmed to the idea. Losing 2 million dollars has a funny way of shifting your priorities.
Speaking of questions though - I'm honestly curious - would you have taken your "No raise taxes pledge"?

Yes I would have. And I voted that way during the budget cycle.
The only time I did not was when I "had" to as a member of the BC as a representative of the SB.
BTW.....Did I take a beating last year or what when Cindy and Dennis grilled me over and over about their doubts that I was capable of doing my duty!

Well....she spoke against only a month or so ago when I introduced it at a SB meeting.
She should have explained she was first against it, then for it. I am sorry, I do not believe her at this point in time. I think she saw the other three candiates come ou tin favor....and had to be also.
It is my opinion she did so becasue she wants to be elected and said what she thought she had to. Again, sitting in the room and watching her reactions to the business of the SB, I am confident I know her positions.

So you anticipate being able to cut around $2 million from the budget?

There was no community input at all. Mary never spoke about pay for play at all so how could she have "changed her mind"??

I guess it's all cleared up now.

Anyone of you care to speculate on the outcome of tomorrows voting ?
Where will we be when our tax base suddenly stops affording the machine the fuel to run ? A tax base that is supported primarily on home owners footing the bill is the idea of NH.
When the government mandates a standard and pays greatly in subsidies, it is easier to swallow.
When our state government is hurting enough to cut back on funding the equation, the mandate, the standard, then our agreement to follow the leader trickles down too !
Where will we be when a measly 2 million dollars is not afforded by our state gov?
We will be watching you folks looking at us.
We will also be looking to diminish the rape of our equity.
Mandated standards seem to be a variable in light of the changing positions of our legal government don't they ?
So does anyone care to speculate on tomorrows winners and loosers at the poles ?

well, we certainly know who Cindy and Derek are voting for....
Cindy...are you saying you never heard Mary come out against pay to play?
tsk....tsk...I love when you always tell us how busy you are to come out and play....then you always find the time to pull your claws out when defending one of yours....
You are nothing but predictable.
Keith.....Unfortunately, almost everyone of the candidates left me believing that property taxes would HAVE to go up to make up the shortfall the state screwed us with.

I just checked the minutes - facts are easy to find. I know you'd much rather smear than give real answers but I guess that's why you're so predictable

We can agree to disagree....we both know the minutes NEVER depict a verbatim transcript and you are counting on it in this discussion. You can look and look and look....but as always you want it both ways.
I know the conversation that was had that night....but so be it...I do know it doesn't work well in your plans.. but that is ok. I feel she will probably be seated next to us soon. We will surely get her 'on the record' then.

Unfortunately, everything comes out of property taxes here in NH - school budgets, town budgets, even a share to county and state. I can understand why people vent and are frustrated at school districts and towns when faced with a huge shortfall, but it really isn't their fault that we stand to lose that money.
Instead of always blaming the entities that we support, why not band together and take it to those that dump it in our laps - the legislators.
In order to effectuate real change, that is where it must start. It is counter-productive to blame school districts for educating our children or towns for providing us services we need.

Fair enough point.
It still does not explain away the AB thing.
So lets forget that issue for a second, If a mandated standard is not funded by the states portion , then how is it possible that the already TAXED financial system of home owners able to anti up any more for a card game where the deck is stacked.
We follow the lead and also change the rules.
Play by their rules and not demand that their standard be maintained.
Do as I say and not as I do is a preaching for children.
We will be forced once again to, ( Take it in the *** ) bite the bullet and accept another tax increase, but this should be the last time !
Mandate a tax cap and keep this budget in line with today's standards.
Yes it will mean a tax increase for us all, unless I file for bankruptcy, then I don't care,,,it will be your problem as we will join the hoards of welfare recipients.
