PostVoting Questions Posted: 2017/03/11 8:39am  Reply with quote

After reading trough our HLN blue voting guide, I have to ask myself a few questions.

As I read Article 5 together with Article 15, it is the Same story, just a different article separated by 10 numbers.

Article 15 " A tax cap " - "WAS APPROVED" last time we voted, but shazam, it simply wasn't implemented.

Now we are asked the very same question again.

" ARE YOU SURE " ? is a worthless conversational utterance and it rubs me the wrong way.
I can only understand the phrase when I realize that it is used by those who did not get the, " lead me around on a leash" blind capitulation that they wanted.

So what happened to the $ 175,000 tax cap ?
It is part of this years $ 396,089 Budget INCREASE.
It is a difference of not $175,000 as voted on by 3/5ths right!, but an increase of $221,089 - in addition to the $175,000 ordered tax cap.

So we have a shell game. ( that's what it looks like to me )

What I find more interesting is the final two lines of Article 15 ( Ha ha ) TAX CAP.

This restriction can be ( and when you are talking government in action that means WILL BE ) OVERRULED by " CITIZENS " at deliberative sessions and may be amended through a warrant article at the annual meeting.

Requires a 3/5th majority vote for adoption.

It seems that the dealer wants me to hope that there is a way of controlling the town's ambitious.

Reading tells me that it may take a 3/5ths vote to pass, and even if a tax cap does get implemented ( on paper ) the "CITIZENS" at deliberative session ( how many can fit into the room are we talking here ) I'm sure it's not 3/5ths of the voting community, can overrule it.

So where is the " trying to slide into this years budget " additional $221,089 over tax cap vote of last year going to be diverted to ?

And if it took 807 out of 1104 votes to pass last time, ( 3/5 = 60% = 807 votes ) how many citizens will it take to overrule it at deliberative session if the room is painted blue?

35 citizens x .6 = 21

Overruled !

PostAt least we can get cookies Posted: 2017/03/22 6:27am  Reply with quote

Usually by now there is some information about the results of the voting, and it is said that no news is good news.

At least I got girl scout cookies, but I'm wondering now if it was a preemptive consolation prize.
